Can I make invoices in Numerously?

Numerously isn’t an invoicing or receipt app, so the simple answer is ‘no’.

What it can do, however, is give you an easy platform where you can do a lot of prepping, quoting and planning to make sure your numbers are right.

If you do this sort of thing on a regular basis, there is an app for that that isn’t Numerously. But if you find yourself stuck with just your phone at-hand, here is what you can do:

Hacking an Invoicing

  • Create a new stack and use each cell to capture each line item.

  • If you are providing goods or services where there are applicable taxes, create an entry to capture that tax rate.

  • Create any additional line items for discounts or credits.

  • Using the SUM option in the Header, you will see a running tally of the final total

    • Be sure to use the selection buttons on the right of cell titles to disable any entries that do not roll-up to the total (i.e. like taxes)

  • Add applicable taxes

    • The SUM can be used as your sub-total, so you can create a new cell that acts as your TOTAL (make sure to deselect it, so it doesn’t contribute to the sub-total)

      • Type in the SUM and multiply it against 1 + the tax %

        • I.E. if it is 8%, you would multiply it against 1.08

  • If you don’t have a lot of items, it might all fit in a screen snap that you can email.

  • If not, you can transcribe your accurate values into an email or into Notes or something with better formatting and that can perhaps export a PDF.

If you have the Productivity Pro pack, linking taxes and exporting the document as XLS also provides an option to edit in Apple Numbers to produce a pretty nice invoice.

If you want to download the Numerously file, you can get it by clicking below. This example was created with Productivity Pro, so includes the cross cell linking. This will work in in the base Numerously app, but you won’t be able to create new links.

As you can see, this isn’t the best solution for invoicing, but if you are ever in a pinch, there is always a solution!

Cheers!
